CT Ramblers MC 57th Annual Snow Run

Back before the earth cooled, old Crusty raced off-road motorcycles. Back when I started, there was no such thing as an off-road motorcycle, there were just motorcycles. If you wanted to take it off road, you had to strip it down and make it into a racer. Later in my off road racing career, guys like Preston Petty started to make plastic fenders and accessories that made off-road racing allot easier. Eventually you could walk into a dealership and buy a purpose built off-road bike and go racing! My all time favorite race bike was a Husky WR250. That was back when Husky's were made in Sweeden and were the best motorcycles made for Enduro racing.  Husky sold out to Cagiva back in the early 1980's and the Italians wrecked a wonderful motorcycle.  Now they are owned by BMW. I have never ridden one since BMW took control, but a good friend of mine has and he said they suck.

Ok i'm getting a little off track here. No pun intended! What i wanted to tell you about was on January 30th, 2011 The CT Ramblers MC is hosting their 57th Annual Snow Run Enduro. It is New England's longest running Enduro. A few times over the years, it has had to have been postponed because of a blizzard or two, but it has run every year for almost six decades! Truly remarkable considering how enviromentally restrictive the State of Connecticut is. The only other States more difficult to hold off-road races in are California and the People's Republic Of Massachusetts.

More information on the Snow Run Enduro and The CT Ramblers MC is available at www.ctramblers.org
